Engine: Unity
Team size: 8
Role: Designer, Programmer, Trailer Creation
Genre: 2D, Bullet Heaven
Status: Upcoming Release (Steam)In the summer of 2024, I participated in the GMTK Game Jam.In this jam my team and I created Frogmageddon, a vampire survivors-like game where you grow an army of frogs to fight a seemingly endless swarm of snakes.I helped solidify the initial design by distilling the broad list of ideas we had into an experience we can expand upon. Likewise, I helped refined the damage system, made experience points move automatically to the player when they are close by, and balanced the game to make it a casual but still challenging game. Lastly, I worked with Steamworks to implement Steam achievements to give interesting milestones for players.Click the link above and wishlist the game on Steam!

Engine: Godot
Team size: 1
Role: Creator
Genre: 3D, Narrative, Walking simulator
Status: Released (Itch)Additionally in the summer of 2024, I studied abroad for a month in Japan. Through this experience, I was able to learn more about Japanese culture and how that culture is reflected in their art and games. By the end, I created a narrative game that explores the everyday experiences of a citizen or a visitor through an immersive and cyclical poem.

Engine: Unity
Team size: 1
Role: Creator
Genre: 3D, Walking simulator, Liminal
Status: Released (Itch)This was a personal project to get more familiar with Blender and creating a liminal space for a player to walk through. While a short demo, I was able to deliver a complete and immersive experience of walking through a liminal and dreamlike space that is unfamiliar to the player.

About

My name is Eugenio Lopez, I am a third year at Northeastern University with a Game Design major and a Computer Science minor. I have loved and been interested in the art and creation of games ever since I got my hands on titles such as Super Meat Boy and Crypt of the Necrodancer back in 2016 and seeing the creative potential of the medium. Now, I am involved in the creation of a variety of games and projects. My goal in any project is to create the strongest foundations for the game to succeed. Whether that be in solid game design, an engaging narrative, or helping implement new game mechanics. My job is to craft a fundamentally sound experience with a narrative and mechanical implementations to back it up.I love the work that I do. Being able to work with talented individuals from various backgrounds to make an experience a reality is what makes this work truly fulfilling.I am always open to talk about games, their design, my experiences having been to five continents, and so much more. Just send me an email and I'll get back to you soon.Hobbies / Interests:

Design Documents
Over the summer of 2024 and into my third year at Northeastern, I made a document and fleshed out a game idea once or twice a day for a bit over two weeks. Through this exercise, I was able to create a journal of game ideas I can pull from and reflect on my creative process to further refine it.
For my Narrative for Games class I created a story between two park rangers in Yosemite and how each of the characters see and interact with the land.
This was a personal exploration of a 2D platformer's narrative. I wanted to create a mysterious world with its world building shown through item descriptions inspired by Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls. This shows the story of an unknown traveler attempting to ascend by getting three gifts from three great entities as a metaphor of someone's journey to achieving their dreams.
